Minimix of the week on

Janet Jackson : Let's Wait a While

26-May-2000

About the original version

Let's wait a while is a beautiful balad from
Janet's first true solo album " Control".
The album was called this, as it was Janet's
first album where she was no longer under the
influence of her brothers and parents influence.

The album was produced by Jam & Lewis in 1986.
It featured the Hit singles: Control, Nasty, What have
you done for me lately, When I think of you and Pleasure
Principle. Here's Janet in her Velvet Look. Visit her site

About the minimix version

The Minimix first of all stretches the original 4:37 to greater length.
Drums are added in "Control" style. Small sequencer riffs come in
from the second verse along with sampled horn stabs.
The mix is then complemented with a wonderful performance
on saxophone by Gerbrand Westveen. His sax is blended in with the
rest of the mix using the same reverb Jam & Lewis used.
Unfortunately Janet's vocals already were rather soft in the original
version, and could have been somewhat louder. Well.... Can't win 'em all !

Sit back and enjoy !
